Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
