Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions
Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but will the Premier League leaders bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.
In week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' new record, the new release, is available on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his spouse his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I won't force football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.
"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3
AI's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, the Hammers secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look strong again.
West Ham's only on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
So, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.
A family member told me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
They have not had much fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.
The analyst's forecast: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.
They have have lots of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.
Their performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.
But I am not do that. Instead, I truly need to continue opposing the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0
The algorithm's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
