People have gathered around the country to mark 24 months since the Hamas-conducted attack on October 7th, 2023, as negotiations advanced in Egypt over a conclusion to the conflict in Gaza.

The assault led to in excess of 1,200 people killed and 251 others taken back to Gaza as hostages. It was the uniquely most fatal day for the Jewish community since the Second World War.

Israel responded by beginning a defensive operation in Gaza which has killed over 67,000 people, according to the territory's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its figures are seen as accurate by the United Nations and other global organizations.

"The violent opponents have hit us hard, but they have not broken us," the prime minister stated on Tuesday.

He also vowed to "realize all the aims of the war: the return of all the captured, the destruction of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel".

Commemorative Ceremonies Across Israel

The government authorities postponed official commemorations until mid-October - after the conclusion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but events still occurred around the country on that day.

A remembrance service for the relatives of Israeli citizens killed in the Hamas attack was held in Tel Aviv. Arranged by the affected families, it was aired on Israeli TV networks.

Hours earlier, a silent tribute was respected throughout the country.

Ceasefire Talks in Egypt

Meanwhile, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams convened in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh for a second day of mediated discussions to review the terms of the plan.

A high-ranking representative knowledgeable about the negotiations indicated that an evening round of negotiations began at 7 PM local time.

The official said the day's discussions finished without significant progress, because of disagreements over the recommended Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over assurances Hamas wants to guarantee Israel does not restart combat after the initial stage of the arrangement.

He commented that the discussions are "challenging and have yet to achieve any major advancement," but mentioned that mediators are making efforts to close the disparities between the both parties.

Key Points in Discussions

  • A lasting truce
  • The swap of the prisoners still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The pullout of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Plans for relief supplies deliveries
  • Post-war governance of the area

Citizen Feeling

In Tel Aviv's memorial area previously, young a woman - whose family member lived through the incident on the outdoor event, where many attendees were killed and numerous more were taken hostage by Hamas fighters - told: "Nowhere appears as home anymore and until every captive return no one will be secure."

"When we see everyone home again, we can relax once more. Then we can commence heal," she added.

In front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in the capital, people gathered to show their solidarity for the relatives of the hostages. Israel says nearly fifty stay in captivity in Gaza, 20 of whom are thought to be living.

Protester a participant explained: "We must do every compromise required for the captives to be released. But we sincerely need promises that we will be safe."

Opinion polls now regularly indicate that around 70% of Israeli citizens want the hostilities to finish in as payment for the freedom of the hostages.

Gaza Conditions

At the location of the gathering, those paying respects assembled to honor the dead.

From the site, the noise of aerial bombardments and shelling could be detected just a short distance away in Gaza, where witnesses said the severe Israeli attacks continued.

In the main city, air and artillery strikes were noted in the dawn of Tuesday in the western neighborhood, Rimal and zone neighbourhoods and in the eastern area of that sector, as well the camp to the north-west.

"As the dusk arrives, the dread arrives with it," displaced urban resident a local woman, whose 17-year-old son was killed by an Israeli aerial attack earlier, described.

"My family are afraid of the bombings. All the night we are resting together, holding each other, particularly my smallest child who rests his head on me all night."

"Constantly we monitor the reports to see what happened. And I'm concerned that this halt will not be finalized and that the fighting will return to us."

Medical Crisis

The healthcare center in the urban area said it had received the remains of six people by the midday, including several killed in an Israeli strike in the southern area.

A different healthcare center in the southern city of that area reported additional victims had been transported. A person was lost his life by Israeli forces while attempting to get assistance to the south, medical staff said.

The territory's health ministry reported a significant number of the {territ
