The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

While perhaps not at the identical stature as pardoning holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

The event, which both honors and questions the local cultural practice of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The swine, provided by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “6-7” – deriving from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.

“It represents the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Participants enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and cafecito as they toasted the pig's pardon.
