The Renowned Musician Encourages Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists appearing on Lullaby features a group of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The track showcases a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The team running the project have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of buildings said to be destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
