Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers
The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays advanced to their maiden championship series since the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in the majors to a four games to three victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, who are the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."
The veteran has now slugged 23 October home runs, ranking him third on the list behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd choose in that moment other than Springer with his October magic," said Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the one club never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it hurts" following his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he added.
Toronto secured the championship on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
